The UAS has a single library serving nursery through grade 12.

Its staff consists of one full time certified librarian and one part time Library Assistant. The library is open Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

The collection consists of more than 18.000 books, 35 magazine titles, videos, CDs, DVDs and cassettes.

The library houses separate collections for Elementary and Secondary.

A glass divider helps to have separate work areas for Elementary and Secondary Students. Each area has a reading corner with comfortable beanbags and sofas.

There are four computers in the elementary side and four in the secondary area. All computers have Internet access, and we are currently subscribed to Britannica Online.

The library uses Follett software, which is the most widely used program in libraries of international schools in South America. The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) allows students and staff to research library materials. The OPAC can be accessed from any computer in the school.

Elementary classes have a fixed schedule for library classes. The students go to the library twice a week, once with the American Program and once either with the Uruguayan Program or the Spanish as a Second Language Program (SSL). In the American Program classes, the Head Librarian teaches Library Skills, while in the Spanish ones,  they develop different activities, such as storytelling, silent reading. In addition to this fixed classes, students are welcome to the library during breaks and whenever they need it, always with the teacher authorization.

Students from 6th to 12th grade go to the library regularly in order to do research, read, study on their own and check out books. They also go with their teachers to work on specific projects. There is a College Corner where junior and senior students can find information on US colleges and universities.

The staff uses the library regularly and parents are also welcome in the library to read and check out books and magazines.
