Welcome to  the elementary technology department. 

My name is Mariela López  and I'm the elementary technology teacher.

 I look forward to another exciting year here at UAS.  This will be my sixth year working at UAS and I have been working as an elementary teacher for twelve years.

Why do we teach technology in elementary?

Technology education experiences in the elementary school are designed to help children learn and achieve the educational goals of the whole elementary school program. These experiences orient pupils towards technology, develop psychomotricity skills, and provide the basis for informed attitudes about technology's influence on society. Technology-based activities, integrated into the whole elementary school curriculum, motivate pupils and reinforce learning while pupils gain a technological awareness.

The elementary school child with technology experiences shall...

• Explore how people create, use, and control technology.
   

• Apply knowledge in mathematics, language arts, social studies, science, health, and fine arts to solve problems associated with technology.

• Use tools and materials to explore personal interests with technology.

• Exhibit self-confidence through the use of technology.
