Hello first grade families!

Grade 1, Class Photo August 7th 2008

Welcome to First Grade! We are very happy to kick off another exciting year and look forward to working with each one of the Grade 1 families. I feel proud to be the First Grade teacher of this extraordinary school in which we value each child as unique and strive for personal and academic excellence. We are proud of the steady progress that our students made last year and plan to continue this journey toward excellence in the 2008-2009 school year. Our main goals for this year are to continue to build a school that is an authentic community center and to soar in our literacy instruction. These goals can only be achieved through the dedication and commitment of all stakeholders working together to provide a safe, orderly and caring school community.

Because we believe in the home-school connection we’d love to have parent volunteers to work with us at supporting our instructional efforts in the classroom. We welcome you to sign up to work with a small group of children in the class. You can also assist by helping us organize our class parties/birthdays etc.. If you’d like to be part of this group, please let me now. The classroom doors are open as we work toward being the best we can possibly be in the education of our children.

We look forward to working with each of you in the Grade 1 classroom. Please feel free to contact us at school or e-mail at vgarbarino@uas.edu.uy and gsoto@uas.edu.uy
