The merendero at San Francisco Parish is a place for the community (near the airport) to hold events and gatherings; it also hosts a resale store, a medical consultation service, and a number of other community services. UAS students are involved in a number of activities with the families in the community. It is a community that is eager to share time with the students.
Among the activities that NHS has organized is the thanksgiving dinner - an event organized in order to share a thanksgiving meal with the community NHS students organized the event but members of the entire UAS community supported and/or participated in teh event by preparing food, serving, decorating, or sharing in the meal. Additionally, beginning in February 2008, NHS students began offering English classes to members of the community every Wednesday for 1 1/2 hours. This has been a wonderful opportunity to connect and share. If members of the UAS community are interested in participating in these events, please contact NHS adviser Lisa Price.
