Dear Students and Parents, During the upcoming vacation, UAS is excited to be able to offer two new Performing Arts camps for 5– 13 year olds. These weeklong programs are for students who enjoy music, dance, and theatre arts. Our goal is to provide acting, music and dance training within a balanced environment of learning, fun, and respect. Classes will meet at the UAS campus Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., during the week of January 29 – February 2, 2007. The cost will be 1800 pesos per student* and the money will go towards purchasing materials for sets and costumes. The camps will culminate with a final performance for friends and family on Friday, Feb. 2, 2007. *Sibling Discount (brother or sister): 1200 pesos – 2nd sibling 1000 pesos – 3rd sibling Class Descriptions ONCE UPON A STAGE grades K – 4 (ages 5 – 9) 10:00 – 2:00 Students will explore the performing arts through classical dance, improvisation, theatre games, music, set design, and creative movement. Students will develop basic skills in dance and character development. This class is designed to help students build confidence while encouraging them to discover their own unique talents. Elena Valentin is a certified dance instructor of classical ballet, jazz and creative movement for students of all ages. She has studied dance at UCLA and at Martha Graham School of Contempory Dance in NYC. Rebecca Oden has degrees in Drama and Education, and has worked with youth theatre programs for over 20 years. Applications must be turned in by December 22, 2006 in order to reserve a space for your child. Enrollment will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The ONCE UPON A STAGE class for 5 – 9 year olds is open to the community, so feel free to encourage friends and family members outside of UAS to sign up. READY, SET, ACTion! is a special opportunity for UAS students. Please note that English will be the language of instruction.
We are excited to be able to offer this performing arts opportunity to the community and look forward to receiving your registration form. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at school – toden@uas.edu.uy or Rebecca Oden at odentaism@yahoo.com.
