VITTORIA GARBARINO
I joined UAS U.S. Program Elementary Teachers in 2006. I have taught Grade 1 for nine years and am currently teaching in Grade 4. Before coming to the school; I worked in North Carolina Public Schools in the USA. This school’s uniqueness lies in its different cultures, coming together as one diverse community. Our students have a sense of wonder and awe. They are enthusiastic about learning and happy to be here each day.
UAS means doing what we like with passion, energy, and dedication. It cultivates a sense of community in which all stakeholders are part of the whole. Thanks to a rigorous online learning program, not even a world pandemic could keep us apart.
CECILIA BURGUEÑO
I have been teaching at UAS for over 40 years and also coordinating the Uruguayan Program. For 20 years, I worked in public schools. I have a postgraduate degree in “Educación en Valores “and also one in “Gestión Educativa.” I enjoy UAS for its cultural diversity. UAS shares the same vision of freedom and flexibility of thought along with total respect for all ideas and points of view that have captured my attention since day one. This vision has been enhanced and maintained.
My professional development has been enriched by teaching at UAS. The school’s educational vision and mission have enabled me to grow not only as an educator but also as a person. Teachers at our institution must fully identify with its proposal, always maintaining a broad and flexible outlook, as well as a great capacity to adapt to new experiences and points of view. This is the identity of UAS and it is what has allowed the school to achieve educational excellence with its own unique profile over the years.

We have one child who is currently in 1st grade. Our family moved to Uruguay in August 2019 and we were looking for a high-quality, bilingual pre-K program to prepare our son for kindergarten. We did a lot of research and knew we’d be joining a warm, diverse community offering a high-quality education to ease the transition of moving to a new country. UAS has high standards and a close-knit, supportive community led by experienced, dedicated, and creative administrators and teachers.
Committed to the whole child; UAS celebrates and honors international and local; in a transparent, creative, resilient, and warm atmosphere. The school provides an education that supports and enhances his cultural experience in a warm community that scaffolds his learning as he grows. He has learned to be resilient and flexible as a person, student, and community member by living through this pandemic as a member of the UAS community. Our whole family has. We are lucky to be here.

“The decision of where to enroll our kids is one of the most important decisions we will make. I would encourage anyone curious to come to spend a day here, feel the energy, meet the passionate teachers, and explore the great campus!”
NICOLÁS BRUNI
“The school is truly distinctive because of its international atmosphere. I just love teaching and working with people from all over the world. There’s a natural embracing of diversity.”
FRANCESCA SHAW VILLAR
“I found that UAS teachers are always understanding and there for you no matter what, whether it is a problem at home, with friends, or any issue with school work. They always try their best to help out. Also, I really enjoy the classes. They are always different and fun, there are activities, projects, group assignments, and even the tests are made in a fun way.”
JEFF GRANGER
“I teach students that if they work hard, are disciplined and practice everyday, they can become whatever they want to be.”
