Class of 2025 (Grade 12) COLLEGE ADMISSION TIMELINE & CHECKLIST

AUGUST, 2024
1-31Schedule planning meetings with Mr Taskin (ongoing, drop in, or email to set up a meeting)
1-31Attend college representative visits (online/in-person).
1-31Update BridgeU with college shortlist (10-12 universities)
1-31Consider registering for the IELTS/TOEFL (English B students or if required by the college). Ask Mr Taskin if you are unsure you may need to take it.
30Deadline to ask your teacher(s) for your teacher recommendation letter for college. (note: if only one teacher letter is required, only ask one teacher. Mr Taskin always writes the “Counselor recommendation” for USA applications, and/or when it is required by any college)
30Finish your 2nd draft of the Common App essay, or personal statement.
SEPTEMBER, 2024
1-30Update, email and schedule meetings with Mr Taskin.
1-30Attend College Fairs at UAS
9US Early Decision (ED) / Early Action (EA)/ candidates application intent deadline (email your University Advisor if you are going to apply ED or EA). This would also apply to any Oxford/Cambridge, medical school applicants
20Common Application essay (or personal statement for UK) final draft due to Mr Taskin (For US ED/EA or UK October 15 applicants).
30All U.S. college supplemental essays (first draft) due (For US ED/EA Applicants). These are the shorter extra essays that a college may require. Students must look to see if this is required as it will vary by college. Short but very important.
30Refine and update BridgeU with college shortlist (5-10 choices)
OCTOBER, 2024
1-30Discuss college selections and application details with Mr Taskin
1-30Attend college representative visits and research, talk, chat or zoom with others at the colleges you are considering (online/in-person).
1-31Begin to finalize your application materials, requirements, etc.
20· Submission date* for Cambridge, Oxford, UK Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary application submission · Submission date* for any October 15 US EA/ED (some US Uni’s may have an Oct. 15th deadline, be careful)
24Submission date* for any November 1 US EA/ED application. Students should be ready to submit their applications at this time.
28(For regular decision) Submit your final draft of Personal Statement /college essay(s) / motivation letter to your University Advisor (mostly the UK and Europe)
NOVEMBER, 2024
1-30Attend college visits (online/in-person).
1-30Complete your regular decision application (materials, requirements, etc).
1-31Complete any scholarship applications that require a separate application with deadlines that differ from admissions deadlines. (e.g. UBC).
6Submission date* for any November 15 US EA/ED and/or RD application deadline and/or Hong Kong fast track application deadline.
20University of California (UC) application deadline (be ready to submit by this date)
DECEMBER, 2024
11Submission date* for ALL U.S., UK, Europe, Asia applications with a deadline of February 15 or earlier.

*Submission date means that you should be ready to submit all documents by this date. It is also known as an “internal deadline”.

Submitting on-or before- this date is preferable. At the very least, you should be ready to submit and if you need a couple of more days to tweak anything, then you have the time to do that.
