The Uruguayan American School (UAS) is a private college preparatory day school enrolling approximately 300 students from Nursery through Grade 12. It was established in 1958 by a group of Uruguayan and American citizens residing in Montevideo. The school is located on a three-hectare campus in the eastern Montevideo suburb of Carrasco. Facilities include an elementary and a secondary wing, a large library, computer labs, fully equipped science laboratories, a gymnasium and fitness center, outdoor sports fields, an auditorium, and a cafeteria. As a member of the South American Activities Conference (SAAC), UAS participates in athletic and fine arts tournaments with five other international schools in the conference.
