Searching for Summer Programs and Experiences

Searching for Summer Programs and Experiences   Below are a few suggestions that students and parents/guardians can use when considering finding a summer program to attend.   Click here to search the bank of summer programs that Mr Taskin has gathered over the years. Many of these programs have gone back to face-to-face programs following the pandemic, and some of them may have also moved to a hybrid approach and offer both options. If you have any specific questions about the program, please reach out to the program directly.   There are literally thousands of summer programs, experiences and unique opportunities happening around the world, but our focus here is on those programs that occur on a college campus. The main advantage of attending a summer program on a college campus is to give students an idea of what it is like to actually live on a campus, to interact with other young people their age, to get a feel for the surrounding town or city and learn about all kinds of topics that may pique their interest and provide invaluable perspective for future college choices. College Counselors around the world highly recommend this as part of an informed search for the best fit/match when finally accepting where to go to college. Scholarships and financial support are sometimes available upon request.   Using common Google keywords to obtain a list and find out the details could be a starting point.  These keywords can often help:
  • (university/college name) +”pre college program”
  • (university/college name) +”pre college (+subject) +program”
  • (name of city, or country) +pre college (or “summer”) +course/program
  • (subject of interest) +summer programs+2024
Summer program application deadlines usually begin around February & March and some popular programs can fill up quickly. Some programs also may require a UAS high school transcript and/or a recommendation letter. If the program that a student is interested in requires such a document, we recommend the student reach out to their College Counselor to inquire about the next step. Mr Taskin is happy to help facilitate this process so that students gather the necessary documents to apply, and apply on time.   Drop by Mr Taskin’s office if you would like to discuss anything related to summer programs!   Mr Taskin UAS College Counselor
