The UAS Athletic Department promotes the value of teamwork, the dignity of sportsmanship, the excitement of competition, and the benefits of regular physical exercise.  We challenge student-athletes to reach their potential regardless of skill level or age. Our hope is that the students make a lifelong commitment to healthy habits and can participate with competence and confidence in physical activities.

Elementary School

The Elementary School UAS Athletics department emphasizes participation, having fun,
developing skills and teamwork, and good sportsmanship.  All of the Elementary School sports teams are coed.

Soccer

Soccer practices are twice a week for Grade 3 through Grade 5 students, and once a week for Kinder through Grade 2 students. UAS is a member of the Fútbol Intercolegial de Fraternidad Estudiantil (FIFE) league, which hosts games on Saturday mornings throughout the school year. Fifth grade students will also have an opportunity to participate in invitational tournaments.

Swimming

Grade 3 through Grade 5 students can join the UAS Swim team.  The Swim team practices year-round at Carrasco Polo Club pool.  Elementary School students compete in tournaments in and around Montevideo.

Basketball and Volleyball

For one quarter each semester, Elementary students in Grades 3 through 5 can participate in basketball and volleyball. These practice sessions are designed to develop fundamental skills and teach the game’s rules and strategies.

Middle School

Middle School student-athletes are encouraged to improve their fundamental skills and teamwork and to play with a spirit of fun and sportsmanship.
With the exception of swimming, which is coed, each sport has a separate boys and girls team.

Soccer

Boys and girls practice soccer throughout the school year. The teams compete in friendly matches with local schools and clubs, in mini-tournaments organized by UAS, and in The Friendship Games in November and May. These Games are an international competition among UAS, Lincoln School of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and the International School of Curitiba (Brazil).
