Uruguayan American School

Our challenging academic program is modeled on quality schools in the US and worldwide. UAS graduates have been accepted at some of the finest colleges and universities in Uruguay and the rest of the world, including Harvard, Columbia, Yale and Stanford (US), Edinburgh and St. Andrews (UK), and the University of Toronto (Canada). UAS is the best school in Uruguay to become completely fluent in English. From Nursery to Grade 12, all classes are taught in English, except those that are part of our Uruguayan Program. In fact, UAS has more native English speaking instructors than any other school in Uruguay. We embrace and promote the diversity represented by our students who come from 35 different countries, including Uruguay. We are committed to educating socially responsible, global citizens who are respectful of diversity in all its forms.

As we approach Thanksgiving, a celebration of community and gratitude, we would like to express our admiration for all the wonderful student-led projects that inspire us every day.

Over the past few weeks, the NHS has been directing a food drive for @bancodealimentosuy, a local foundation that receives food donations and distributes them to organizations that are helping those in need across the country. This month, eight boxes of non-perishable food donations were collected and delivered under the supervision of the NHS . Thank you to all who participated and continue to support these projects!

Our Elementary students received a special visit from the Gurvich Museum last week🎨

José Gurvich was a Uruguayan artist, famous for his Constructivism style of painting. Ms. Garrone’s Elementary class got to learn about Gurvich’s life, his masterpieces and inspirations. After that, our young artists practiced what they learned, drawing abstract constructivism paintings and working with recycled objects.

10th graders took their science outside of the Chemistry lab today🧑‍🔬

Making good use of the summer weather, Dr. Amaral’s class performed a series of fun and safe experiments in front of an audience of primary students. It was a great learning experience for all!
